The surveys we carry out

An independent assessment by people who have run and maintained yachts of this size. Each survey is planned around its purpose and the yacht’s construction.

  • Pre-purchase

    Before you buy. The structure, machinery, systems and equipment, with the defects that affect the price and the work needed after purchase.

  • Condition and insurance

    The yacht’s present condition, for an insurer, a lender or your own planning.

  • Damage

    After an incident or a claim. The extent of the damage, its likely cause, and the repairs required.

  • Refit and repair

    Before and during yard work. What should be put right, and whether completed work meets the agreed standard.

How it works

What every survey includes

From the first message to the report in your hands.

  1. Scope

    We agree the purpose, the location, and whether the yacht should be in or out of the water, and arrange access with the captain, yard or broker.

  2. Inspection

    Hull and structure, deck and superstructure, machinery, electrical and plumbing systems, and safety equipment. Specialist testing, such as ultrasonic thickness gauging, oil analysis or thermal imaging, is arranged when needed.

  3. Report

    A clear written report with photographs, setting out each finding, its priority, and our recommendation.

  4. Questions

    We go through the findings with you, and answer questions from your broker, insurer or yard.
